FAIR ANNOUNCES 2024 EMPLOYEE JUSTICE SUMMER CLERKSHIP AWARDS

[LOS ANGELES] – The Foundation for Advocacy, Inclusion and Resources (FAIR) is delighted to announce the selection of awardees for the 2024 Employee Justice Summer Clerkship in collaboration with the California Employment Lawyers Association (CELA).  The program aims to encourage and support law students from diverse backgrounds who aspire to become employee advocates in their future legal careers.

About the Employee Justice Summer Clerkship: The Employee Justice Summer Clerkship is a prestigious 10-week fellowship for law students with a demonstrated interest in employment law and social justice issues. Candidates are selected through on-campus interviews conducted by CELA's Diversity Outreach Committee, and once hired by CELA member law firms, are eligible for $4,000 in fellowship funding from FAIR in addition to the salary from their hiring firm. 

The Employee Justice Summer Clerkship seeks to increase diversity among those practicing employment and labor law on behalf of workers. The program recognizes diversity in various aspects, such as race, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, disability status, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, veteran status, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, language, geography, and overcoming personal hardship.

The 2024 FAIR Employee Justice Summer Clerkship Award Recipients are:

Michael Stallworth (UCLA), hired by Bryan Schwartz Law
Samantha Vega (UCLA), hired by Hennig Kramer Ruiz & Singh
Alyssa Gonzaga (UC Irvine), hired by Matern Law Group
Briana Barragan (Loyola), hired by KO Legal
Jet Harbeck (UCLA), hired by Allred Maroko & Goldberg
George Vasquez (Loyola), hired by Hadsell Stormer Renick & Dai LLP

*Received the additional distinction of the John D. Weiss award, given to the student who exemplifies the attributes that John demonstrated during his life: A person with a generous heart who gives without expecting recognition, although so deserving.  A person who demonstrates a fierce passion for achieving justice for workers.  A person who inspires despite adversities. This award includes an additional $1,000 stipend.
